my great great grandfather was taken prisoner at the battle of fair oaks, on 10/27/64. he was shot in the ankle and taken to gwalthemy hospital (hospital c) in richmond, va.  he subsequently died of gangrene on 11/29/64 at the hospital and buried the following day 11/30/64 on the hospital grounds. his headstone was removed and the graves at that site were reinterred at richmond national cemetary where he is an unknown soldier
